Pumphrey Residence

The Pumphrey Residence was originally designed by Harwell H. Harris, in 1939. The two-story single family residence is approximately 2000 square feet. The downstairs is made up of living room, kitchen, and guest bedroom opening to spacious gardens to the south. The upstairs is composed of two bedrooms and two baths with south facing exterior decks. In the years following 1939, Harris moved away from the International style, toward more traditional form-making. The Pumphrey House and Entenza House, therefore, stand at a unique juncture in the history of Harris's works.
